A BREAKING DISCOVERY SHAKING THE VERY FOUNDATIONS OF MODERN PHYSICS.

NEUTRINOS TRAVELLING FASTER THAN LIGHT CHALLENGE EINSTEIN's THEORY OF RELATIVITY!!!
Subatomic Neutrino Track

Albert Einstein "THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY" is considered as a fundamental pillar in modern physics. But now the scientists say that the result that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light could be proved wrong.

Scientists at CERN (The European Organisation of Nuclear Research), which host the world's largest physics laboratory at Franco-Swiss border claim that they have recorded subatomic particles, known as Neutrinos, travelling faster than the speed of light.

CERN says as part of its OPERA experiment , a neutrino beam fired from a particle accelerator near Geneva to a lab 730km away in Italy travelled 60 nanosecond faster than the speed of light. It is revealed that neutrinos travel at a velocity of 20 parts-per-million above the speed of light.

If the findings are correct, it would force a major rethink of the fundamental laws of nature, including how the universe works. Given the potential far-reaching consequences of such a result, CERN has decided to hold an open house shortly in which scientists can refute or confirm the result based on their measurements.

If the result is confirmed, it might  change our view of physics, but we need to be sure that there are no other, more mundane experiments.

Even the CERN scientists are "flabbergasted" by the claim and are waiting for other to verify the results again before claiming a discovery.

"The feeling that most people have is this can't be right, this can't be real," said James Gillies, a CERN spokesman.

After the experiment the scientists at Fermilab in Chicago have promised to start such a work immediately. He said, "Its a shock. It's going to cause us problems, no doubts about that- if its true."

Given the enormous implications of the find, the scientists will still spent months checking and rechecking their results to make sure there was no flaws in the experiments. The CERN researchers are now looking to the US and JAPAN to confirm the results.

"The results comes as a complete surprise", said Antonio Erediatato, the spokesperson of the OPERA experiment. "After many months of studies and cross checks, we have not found any instrumental effect that could explain the result of the measurement."

CERN said a series of high precision measurements of the distance between the source and the detector, and of the neutrinos' time of flight will be conducted.

IBM and 3M Herald New Era of 3D Electronics......

IBM and 3M have partnered to pioneer a revolutionary new electronics technology that stacks semiconductor microchips into 3D packages. They are 1,000 times more powerful than current devices.
State-of-the-art electronic devices such as touch-screen tablets and smartphones are thin because all of their circuitry is cast onto flat, planar semiconductor microchips that are laid out side by side, then interconnected with overlaid patterns of flat metal wires printed on circuit boards. But by taking those same chips and stacking them on top of each other, they can be interconnected by shorter wires that are faster, use less space and consume less power.
IBM and 3M are developing a new type of adhesive (blue) that can glue together up to 100 microchips into stacks of semiconductors that realize 3D electronics 1,000 times more powerful than today's flat, planar chips. (Source: IBM)
"We believe we can advance the state-of-art in packaging and create a new class of semiconductors that offer more speed and capabilities while [keeping] power usage low—[all] key requirements for many manufacturers, especially for makers of tablets and smartphones," said IBM Vice President of Research Bernard Meyerson.
3D microchips have been on the drawing board for years, but the main problem has been keeping the chips on the inside of the stack cool. Today's flat printed circuit boards allow each planar chip to dissipate heat into the air, but stacked microchips instead heat each other. 3M's job will be making an adhesive that solves this problem by conducting heat away from the interior of chip stacks.
3M's thermally conductive adhesive will use innovative nanoscale structures that pump heat away from the most sensitive interior circuits. Since microchips are fabricated on wafers that hold hundreds of identical copies, 3M's adhesive can be coated on an entire wafer. Each successive wafer will be "glued" with the adhesive to the next one on top of it. Finally, after the 100th wafer is glued to the top, the entire stack of wafers would then be sawed into complete 3D cube-shaped electronic devices.
"We are very excited to be an integral part of the movement to build such revolutionary 3D packaging," said Herve Gindre, division vice president at 3M Electronics Markets Materials Division.
3M lists adhesives as the first of its 46 core technologies, along with connecting devices, converting, extruding, heat shrinking, metallization, precision coating, rubber molding, thermoplastic molding, web handling and 36 more.

With all the above described features the price is kept a little large, around Rs. 59,990/-. But those who are all gadget freaks, it is a good investment as you can’t have another one like that.

WORLD'S FASTEST MAINBOARD WITH INTEGRATED GRAPHICS.....

THE MSI's A75MA-G55!!!

MSI has come up with the world’s fastest mainboard with integrated graphics--A75MA-G55.

The mainboard incorporates OC Genie II technology, which allows single-click over-clocking without the need of any technical knowledge. OC Genie II is available on all MSI A75- Series mainboards. MSI claims that the mainboard has broken record on 3D Mark 06, which has been made possible only by versatile Click BIOS UEFI interface and improvements in mainboard design.

MSI’s Military Class II components  have been certified by United States Department of Defense 810G standard. Only Military Class II have the lifetime and stability required by today’s most demanding situations of extreme over-clocking but at the same time provide great levels of power saving.

MATERIALS THAT CONTROLS THE WAY LIGHT BOUNCES OF IT....

Serdar Kocaman, an electrical engineering PhD candidate and Chee Wei Wong, associate professor of mechanical engineering, in collaboration with the scientists at the University college of London, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and the Institute of Microelectronics of Singapore have developed an optical nanostructure material that controls the way light bounces off it.

The researchers engineered a structure in which they etched tiny holes, creating a material known as a 'Phototonic Crystal', which behaves as though it has zero index-light can travel with an ultra-fast velocity in such kind of environment. The material, a coating no thicker than one-hundredth of the diameter of the strand of hair, has properties that DON'T OCCUR IN NATURE!

When light travels, it bends-in technical terms, it disperses and incurs 'phase', an oscillating curve that leaves a trail of information behind it. Those oscillations show an object's properties, such as shape and size, which can identify it. However, light hits this specially engineered material without leaving a trace.

"We can now control the flow of light, the fastest thing known to us. This can enable self-focusing light beams, highly directive antennas, and even potentially an approach to hide objects, at least in the small scale or a narrow band of frequencies," said Wong.
